The Best End of Year Teacher Gifts

miscirenee

As a teacher I've had a lot of friends ask for gift ideas for teachers. Sometimes I forget to think about the gifts I've appreciated the most. I think the best answer varies from teacher to teacher, but here are some ideas that I've received and gifted in the past.

#1 A Note from the Parent/Student

This may seem crazy, but I still have all the letters and cards students have made and wrote for me. Teaching is typically a pretty thankless job. We are constantly being made to feel like we could be doing more. Hearing about a student's favorite lesson or activity from the year is really appreciated. If you use Canva its super easy to create a template for your student to write a few words to their teacher.

2. Books!

Does your student have a favorite book that their teacher has read? Maybe there is another book from that author. Teachers often spend their own money on books for their libraries, it is so appreciated when books are gifted to them. Have your student write their name in the book with a message for the teacher and their future students. I plan on having my first grader do this. Here are some favorites of mine.

The Sour Grape is a great book for grades K-3, it is the 6th book in the series and a teacher/student favorite. The books also have plushies available on amazon which would be a cute addition to the book gift!

This is a great book for a teacher gift! I love this story and its message. Another idea to go with the book could be a personalized stamp for the teacher's books. LOVE this one from amazon.

3. Classroom Supplies

This may require a little investigating. Does your child's teacher prefer Sharpies, Flair Pens, or Mr. Sketch? Ask your student or go straight to the source! Teachers love getting school supplies since they usually purchase them with their own money. We are typically provided the bare minimum. Also, check if they have a personal laminator, some replacement sheets, markers, and Clorox wipes make a wonderful gift. It may sound silly to some, but these supplies are used quite often and usually are running out at the end of the year.

4. COFFEE

I don't mean to generalize, but most teachers require some form of caffeine to get through their day. Ask your child's teacher what their drink of choice is and tell them you'll bring it for them one day on the last week. If that isn't convenient, grab a gift card for them! Its a quick and easy way to show your appreciation.

5. Restaurant Gift Card

Support a local business! I'm sure your child's teacher has discussed his or her favorite food or treat! Ice cream or candy stores are great!
