As a reading specialist, my kids have come to expect books as presents. This Valentine's Day is no different. I tried to find some new books that kept with the Valentine theme. I was SO excited to find these. Harvey the Heart and Meet February are perfect for my 3 and almost 7 year old. After reading Meet February I was so excited to see the author is actually a teacher named April. She couldn't find books that taught about the calendar, so she wrote a book for each month. It also includes a little space in the back for recording important birthdays AND discussion questions in the back. WIN WIN for parents and teachers! I’ll definitely be bringing this one in to read to my students too. The story has a cute theme and a great problem/solution example. I can't wait to check out her other books.
Something else I started this year is writing one thing I love about each of my kids on a heart and hanging it up each night for them to find in the morning. My daughter insisted on writing one for her dad so he has one now too. Still waiting on one for mom though! I think it’s so important to support local book stores, but I know it is not always possible. Links to the books on Amazon are below!
